Here's the news:
- October 2008 saw Estrella performing two concerts as a soloist: in Anchorage at the Alaska Native Heritage Center (with a.o. Cuban percussionist Jimmy Branly), and at Bake's Place in Seattle with the trio of Brazilian pianist Jovino Santos Neto.
- Estrella is featured on a track of Dutch bandoneon ace Carel Kraayenhof's new cd, Memorias de Cuba; the other features are for vocalists Trijntje Oosterhuis, Paskal Jacobsen and Fabian Nodarse.
- 'Estrella's Guajira' had a wonderful tour of the USA and Canada in September 2007. The band got a great reception at the Madison World Music Festival, World Music Chicago 2007 and the Small World Music Festival in Toronto. Our thanks to the NFPK, the Dutch fund for the performing arts, and the NAF, the Netherland America Foundation.
- On May 6, 2007, Dutch public VPRO TV featured Estrella and her Cuban country band - Click here to see the video!
- Estrella's cd 'Alma Guajira' got a really nice review (in Spanish) in Latin Beat Magazine from the USA.
